I was celebrating my coming of age by a tour of New England—sightseeing, antiquarian, and genealogical—and had planned to go directly from ancient Newburyport to Arkham, whence my mother’s family was derived.
— Le Cauchemar d’Innsmouth, 28 occurrences
Lovecraft West of Arkham the hills rise wild, and there are valleys with deep woods that no axe has ever cut.
— La Couleur tombée du ciel, 20 occurrences
This terror is not due altogether to the sinister manner of his recent disappearance, but was engendered by the whole nature of his life-work, and first gained its acute form more than seventeen years ago, when we were in the third year of our course at the Miskatonic University Medical School in Arkham.
— Herbert West, réanimateur, 18 occurrences
It was the publicity attending this investigation which set reporters on the track of the Whateleys, and caused the Boston Globe and Arkham Advertiser to print flamboyant Sunday stories of young Wilbur’s precociousness.
— L’Abomination de Dunwich, 15 occurrences
At first I shall be called a madman—madder than the man I shot in his cell at the Arkham Sanitarium. Later some of my readers will weigh each statement, correlate it with the known facts, and ask themselves how I could have believed otherwise than as I did after facing the evidence of that horror—that thing on the door-step.
— Le Monstre sur le seuil, 12 occurrences
He was in the changeless, legend-haunted city of Arkham, with its clustering gambrel roofs that sway and sag over attics where witches hid from the King’s men in the dark, olden years of the Province.

This work was not known to the fashionable clientele who had so swiftly built up his fame after his arrival in Boston; but was only too well known to me, who had been his closest friend and sole assistant since the old days in Miskatonic University Medical School at Arkham.
No, it could not possibly be repaired that night, nor was there any other way of getting transportation out of Innsmouth either to Arkham or elsewhere.
— Le Cauchemar d’Innsmouth, avec Innsmouth
Other folks was prosp’rin, too—fish begun to swarm into the harbour fit to kill’ an’ heaven knows what sized cargoes we begun to ship aout to Newb’ryport, Arkham, an’ Boston.
